Au revoir store bought donuts, hello homemade. I’m not gonna lie, donuts are one of my vices and I love them. There are so many different variations of donuts, but I only like two types: plain and honey dipped. Donuts as of late, seem to also be the go to sweet treat for just about any occasion. They’ve evolved and have earned a spot at any table as a front runner on any sweets table.Now, if I’m being honest, I’ve always wanted to make donuts but was always daunted by the idea, until now. During the holidays my little ones asked if they could have donuts, to which I agreed. However, thought it might be more magical for them if I made them instead. So, while out shopping for Christmas gifts, I stumbled into a home furnishing store where I found a donuts baking tin that I gave no thought to buying. Shortly after the holidays, I used the recipe that was recommended on the tin packaging, and I was thoroughly disappointed. But I tried again, using my own batter concoction that not only was I happy with, but by family was too.

Ingredients


Dry:
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
1/3 c. white sugar

Wet:
1 1/4 milk
1 egg (remove white membrane)
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease the donuts tin and set aside. In large bowl, combine dry ingredients and set aside. Using a stand mixer whisk the egg and sugar together for 2-3 minutes until frothy.

Next mix in the oil and vanilla. Now incrementally add the dry ingredients and the milk, batter should appear smooth in texture.

If the batter looks too thick, add more milk (1/4 at a time) until you get a loose consistency; not too runny though.

Fill the tin with batter using the 1/4 measuring cup, the place in the oven for 12-15 minutes.

Finally, using a knife or tooth pick, poke a donut to see if it’s fully baked. If the toothpick or knife come out clean, you’re good to remove from the oven.

Lastly, allow to cool before transferring to a wire rack. Serve with ice cream or eat alone, either way ENJOY!
